Oscarmania part 2
You can't talk about the Oscars without the queen herself. I absolutely love when an actress opts for something other than a haute couture gown. There's something powerful about it. Lanvin once again creates this great ensemble. A great combination of classic pieces each with a unique flare. The skirt is sleek and sultry with the slit. The belt brings us from sleek to flowy with the top. All this paired with a great blazer. I like that it is larger and longer to connect to all the pieces. I usually love some dash of colour when it comes to a black+white outfit, but I think the difference in shades of black compensate well for it.

Oscarmania part 1
Red carpet is my favourite part of the award shows. The fashion choices of Hollywood's elites excite me. Such amazing looks this past Academy Awards, two posts are needed.
First: Dakota Johnson in Saint Laurent.
Red gives that fiery, sultry look; even more so with the side slit. But yet, this dress has sweetness with the candy apple shade. I like the bits of creases at the mid and upper portion. The one shoulder silver strap takes it from just a red dress to something more red carpet worthy.

Purple and flawless
Keira Knightley was my favourite fashion moment at the SAG Awards. Purple is a very unique and royal colour, and not worn as often. This deep shade complements her complexion and hair. I love the deep V neck covered with the transparent sheer fabric. The layered lace look adds depth and it also complements the baby bump. The floral imprint has great definition. This Erdem dress combines great features to make a winner.

Belt/sash/train
I love award season. The glitz, the glamour, and of course the red carpet fashion moments. First up: the Golden Globes.
Reaching outside the world of gala dresses, Emma Stone has really nailed the fashionable pants ensemble with Lanvin, bravo. I love the high waist and straight leg pants. I think she was smart not to pair this with shiny jewelry or else it'd have taken away from the top. Though the shiny top caught me at first (great contrast!), I absolutely fell in love with the belt/sash/train. It adds that glamour you associate Hollywood with.

Canadian beauty
(It has been way too long. Exam season and the recovery after taking them took over my life.)
Nina Dobrev is an absolutely stunning woman with a great sense of fashion. An MSN article about her inspired this post.
This two tone Zuhair Murad dress is an excellent example of a pop of colour for fun on a black ensemble. You don't want too much colour or else it takes away the sophistication of the black. The orange-red sleeves turned top form a sultry V neck. There is something about the creases in the dress I just love, they accentuate the curves and add some definition to a colour that can come off as safe. Nina picked a winner.
